IT: Welcome to Derry Season 2 Is Going Even Further Back in Time
The renewal of IT: Welcome to Derry matters because Season 2 expands the series’ reverse-chronology approach, moving from 1962 to the 1935 Bradley Gang massacre and opening another chapter in Derry’s violent history. For viewers drawn to the mythology behind Pennywise rather than a straightforward continuation, the planned time jump suggests the show will keep exploring how the town’s past shapes its recurring horror—while a potential third season could reach back to 1908.
Pennywise isn’t finished with Derry, and this time we’re going even deeper into the town’s bloody past. HBO has officially renewed IT: Welcome to Derry for Season 2, jumping from 1962 all the way back to 1935 and the infamous Bradley Gang massacre.
The time jump is part of the show’s plan to tell Derry’s history in reverse, peeling back another layer of Pennywise’s terrifying cycle with each season. And if the planned three-season story continues, the final chapter would take audiences all the way back to 1908.
IT: Welcome to Derry streams on HBO Max. A premiere date for Season 2 has not yet been announced.
