Marshals Is a Hit but Some Yellowstone Fans Aren’t Sold
More from Yellowstone → 3 videosKayce Dutton didn’t need long to prove there was life after Yellowstone, but not every Taylor Sheridan fan is sold on Marshals. The spinoff trades much of the sweeping Western drama of Yellowstone and Dutton Ranch for a more traditional network procedural, and for some fans, that Yellowstone magic hasn’t followed Kayce to his new home.
Still, the ratings say plenty of viewers are along for the ride, and Luke Grimes remains every bit as compelling as the Kayce Dutton fans fell in love with. Marshals may be a very different kind of Taylor Sheridan series, but Kayce remains a strong reason to keep watching.
Marshals returns October 4 on CBS with a special premiere at 8:30 p.m. Eastern before moving to its regular Sunday time at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Marshals is testing whether Yellowstone’s appeal can survive a major format shift: Kayce Dutton’s story now sits inside a more traditional network procedural rather than the sweeping ranch drama that defined the original. That contrast gives fans a useful reason to tune in, whether they are following Luke Grimes’ performance, weighing the spinoff against its predecessor, or deciding if Kayce alone can carry the transition.
