From the outset, “Trigger Warning” promises a thrilling ride with a star-studded cast including Jessica Alba and Anthony Michael Hall. Unfortunately, what it delivers is an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions that makes one question how such a project ever got greenlit.

Jessica Alba, an actress who has shown potential in past roles, sleepwalks through her performance as a Special Forces officer. Her portrayal lacks depth, emotion, and any semblance of believability.
Anthony Michael Hall, once a beloved icon of the 80s, appears to be phoning it in, probably while contemplating better days. His character is a cardboard cutout of the typical action movie villain, complete with nonsensical motivations and laughably bad dialogue. The supposed chemistry between Alba and Hall is nonexistent, making their on-screen interactions painful to watch.
The plot, if one can call it that, is a tangled mess of clichés and predictability. The storyline plods along with all the excitement of a snail racing in molasses, offering no surprises or engaging twists. Every plot point feels recycled from better films, stitched together in a way that makes one long for the originality of a Hallmark movie.
The action sequences, which should be the highlight of any thriller, are an utter joke. Sloppily choreographed and poorly shot, they feel more like a high school film project than a professional production. The special effects are subpar, with explosions and fight scenes looking like they were rendered on a budget of pocket change.
Directorial missteps abound in “Trigger Warning.” The pacing is erratic, the tone inconsistent, and the editing choppy. Scenes transition awkwardly, leaving the audience bewildered rather than engaged.
“Trigger Warning” is a masterclass in how not to make an action thriller. It is a tedious, uninspired mess that squanders its talented cast and leaves viewers yearning for the two hours of their life back. If you’re looking for excitement, suspense, or even basic entertainment, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This movie is a trigger warning in itself: a warning to avoid it at all costs.
