Former President Donald Trump recently made some claims during a rally that were entirely fictional. He stated that he had released “the tape” of his 2019 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which played a significant role in his first impeachment. However, this claim is completely false.
During the rally in Ohio, Trump asserted that he allowed Democrats to make increasingly exaggerated claims about the content of the call, and then he released the tape to prove them wrong. According to him, Democratic Representative Nancy Pelosi, who was the speaker of the House at the time, was furious when she heard the tape. Trump alleged that she had been deceived by her allies’ false descriptions of the call and expressed her frustration by saying, “What the hell did you get me into? You hear this call? He didn’t do any of this stuff!”
Trump went on to claim that Pelosi was advised to pretend that he had indeed done those things mentioned in the false descriptions and to continue with their plan. He further stated that after they fabricated the narrative, they discovered that the phone call had been recorded, and they were subsequently caught in their deception.
However, these statements made by Trump are entirely misleading. There is no evidence to support his claim that he released “the tape” or that Pelosi was deceived by false descriptions of the call. The truth is, he did not release any such tape, and the call was not recorded. This is a fictional story created by Trump to suit his narrative and mislead the public.
Let’s continue to seek the truth and hold our leaders accountable for their words and actions. Together, we can combat disinformation and ensure a more informed and democratic society.
