Apparently, cats don’t need leashes in California—and Betty thinks that means she’s off the hook. On Judge Judy, a woman claims Betty’s roaming cat attacked her dog, leaving the pup with a scratched ear. But Betty has a defense ready: there’s no leash law for cats!

Judge Judy isn’t impressed. She explains that just because cats aren’t required to wear leashes doesn’t mean their owners can escape responsibility when their pets cause damage. Betty may know the leash laws, but Judy has a lesson for her about accountability.
