The People’s Court Case Takes a Chilling Turn 15 Years Later
On November 17, 2011, Dale Smith Jr. and his ex-fiancée Michelle Parker appeared on The People’s Court in a dispute over a $5,000 engagement ring. That same day, Parker disappeared in Orlando, Florida. Nearly 15 years later, the case has returned to the headlines following Smith’s arrest.
Judge Marilyn Milian presided over the televised dispute, which centered on an engagement ring Parker allegedly threw at Smith during an argument. The judge ultimately ordered Parker to pay $2,500. Later on the day the episode aired, Parker dropped off the couple’s twin children at Smith’s condominium and disappeared.
On October 14, 2026, Orlando police arrested Smith and charged him with second-degree murder in connection with Parker’s disappearance. The charge is an allegation, not a conviction.
