A former tenant wants his security deposit back after moving out of a living situation he says became increasingly uncomfortable. His landlord has a very different version, accusing him of breaking house rules, monopolizing shared spaces and helping drive up the utility bills.

As the two sides battle over who caused the problems, the courtroom exchange takes its own turn when someone makes the mistake of telling Judge Yodit Tewolde Juarez to “hold on.” That request doesn’t go quite as planned.

Judge Patricia DiMango hears quite an explanation from a litigant who claims a negative online review couldn’t be deleted because their phone had been stolen. According to the story, Google would have to remove it instead.

Then comes the detail Judge DiMango can’t let slide: the litigant says they tried calling Google, but “they were closed.” Her response is immediate: “What time does Google close?”

It’s the kind of courtroom logic that makes Hot Bench memorable, with Judge DiMango cutting through an increasingly questionable explanation with one perfectly timed question.

After Jerry complains about Puddy’s aggressive high-fives, Elaine confronts him at his new car salesman desk. Puddy puts up his hand and says, “Don’t leave me hangin’,” but Elaine isn’t having it. The high-five is “very grease monkey” — and “just so stupid.”

Puddy responds with the devastatingly mature comeback. From there, the argument only gets more ridiculous until Elaine announces she’s leaving and Puddy tells her that if she walks out, they’re through.

But Elaine isn’t leaving without a proper goodbye. She delivers the perfect parting shot: “High-five. On the flip side!” It’s Elaine and Puddy at their dysfunctional best on Seinfeld.

Loren tries to explain a messy motorcycle deal by arguing about what happens when you buy and return merchandise. Judge Judy doesn’t let him get very far before delivering a grammar lesson disguised as a courtroom comeback: she has never “boughten” anything in her life.

Richard is suing Loren over a motorcycle purchase tied to an internet sales agreement, while Loren maintains that he was scammed. Judge Judy focuses on the contract itself and makes it clear that vague terms and problems with an online transaction don’t automatically become someone else’s responsibility.
