During a recent stop on her “Ellen’s Last Stand…Up” tour, Ellen DeGeneres announced that she is done with fame once she completes her final shows, which will be filmed for a new Netflix special. She made this declaration during the audience Q&A portion of her show last week at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa.
When asked if she would return to movies or try her hand at Broadway after the tour, DeGeneres responded with a resolute “no”. She stated that after her Netflix special, she will be stepping away from the spotlight for good.
Another fan inquired if DeGeneres would continue voicing the character Dory from Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory”. However, DeGeneres asserted that she will be going “bye-bye” and will not be reprising the role.
DeGeneres’ “Ellen’s Last Stand…Up” tour began earlier this year but has faced some setbacks. She recently canceled four dates on the lineup. The tour serves as an opportunity for her to address the misconduct accusations that surrounded “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” during its final season. The show came to an end after nearly 20 years following allegations of racism, sexual misconduct, and intimidation behind the scenes.
During her performances, DeGeneres has acknowledged her flaws, stating that she can be demanding, impatient, and tough, but denies being mean. She revealed that she used to say she didn’t care what people said about her, but now acknowledges that those words were spoken during the height of her popularity.
DeGeneres has expressed her disappointment with how her show ended, calling it “hurtful”. She stated that she loved the show so much and hated that the last image of her would be tarnished by the controversy surrounding its conclusion.
