In a recent ruling recommending disbarment for Donald Trump’s former legal advisor, John Eastman, evidence of Trump’s involvement in alleged election subversion attempts has gone public, leaving Trump with “plenty to worry about”.
Judge Yvette Roland’s meticulous 128-page ruling contains damning evidence against Trump himself. Conservative columnist Jennifer Rubin explains that these findings mirror the House Jan. 6 committee findings, with a mound of evidence pointing to Eastman’s and by extension Trump’s participation in an attempt to steal the election. The same facts will be presented in the Georgia case and the special counsel Jack Smith’s D.C. case against Trump. Eastman can appeal, but this ruling highlights Trump’s legal vulnerability.
The judge rejected Eastman’s First Amendment defense, which is the defense Trump has repeatedly used. These decisions do not bode well for Eastman in his criminal case in Georgia and suggest that Trump’s “advice of counsel” defense is doomed to fail. Trump has plenty to worry about in D.C. and Georgia.
