The Last House Billboard Man Is Finally Free
This video is worth a look for viewers interested in how a movie’s marketing can extend its central idea beyond the screen. Nathan Shoop’s three-day stay inside a furnished Sunset Boulevard billboard turns The Last House’s trapped-at-home premise into a real-world stunt, while the behind-the-scenes questions offer a closer look at Netflix’s unusual promotional approach. The film itself may appeal to fans of contained family thrillers and mysterious disaster stories, with Greta Lee and Wagner Moura leading the cast.
After spending three days living 30 feet above Los Angeles inside Netflix’s The Last House billboard, Nathan Shoop is finally out—and ready to answer questions about one of the more unusual movie promotions.
Netflix transformed a Sunset Boulevard billboard into a fully furnished, air-conditioned living room and put Shoop inside from August 6 through August 8, bringing the movie’s trapped-at-home premise to life high above the city.
Directed by Louis Leterrier, The Last House stars Greta Lee and Wagner Moura as parents whose family becomes inexplicably sealed inside their home as a mysterious global disaster unfolds outside.
The Last House is streaming now on Netflix.
